Swiss Federal Art Collections

The Swiss Federal Art Collection was established with the support of the Swiss Confederation for the promotion of fine arts and design. Today, it comprises around 22,500 objects and is one of the most important collections of Swiss art and design from the late 19th century to the present day.

Since 2018, the FOC has been making works from the holdings of the Federal Art Collection and the Gottfried Keller Foundation Collection available online.

Today, the Swiss Federal Art Collection comprises some 22,500 works of art and design objects, making it one of the most significant collections of Swiss art since the 19th century.

Design

The Councils of the Swiss Confederation declared the promotion of design as one of the tasks of the Swiss Federal government already in 1917, under the "Swiss Federal Law on the Promotion and Elevation of the Applied (industrial and commercial) Arts".
